Courtly wide-rimmed plate with large engraving of the coat of arms of Duke Christian of Saxe-Eisenberg

Augsburg, 1690-95

 

With Augsburg inspection and master mark Albrecht Biller (born 1653, becomes master around 1681,

1720 died, Seling No. 1777). Extremely high-quality silverwork, chased, engraved, stamped, and with cast, mounted parts; the mirror is fire-gilt.

On the rim, a rich, three-dimensional relief decoration with scrolled acanthus foliage and four cherub heads, in the center finely engraved with the coat of arms of Duke Christian of Saxe-Eisenberg (1653-1707) under the initials "VGGCHZS IV BAEVW". The deeply hollowed bowl could have been
